About the Plaud AI Transcription Plans
The Plaud Note Pro includes a Starter Plan — 300 minutes of AI transcription per month at no charge. Recording and local storage are always unlimited and do not require a subscription — audio is stored on the device in encrypted form regardless of plan. AI transcription, summarization, and Ask Plaud features consume the monthly quota.
For users who transcribe more than 300 minutes per month, Plaud offers paid plans including an Unlimited Plan for unrestricted transcription. These are purchased separately through the Plaud app or website.

Does the free Starter Plan have enough transcription for everyday use?
The included Starter Plan provides 300 minutes (5 hours) of AI transcription per month at no charge. For users with one or two hours of meetings per day, this is typically sufficient. Professionals in high-meeting roles — lawyers billing by the hour, consultants recording every client call, journalists doing extensive interviews — will likely need a paid plan. Plaud offers Pro and Unlimited plans through the app, purchased separately. Local recording to the device is always unlimited and does not consume the transcription quota — you can record as much as you like and choose which recordings to transcribe.
How does phone call recording work?
The Note Pro uses a Vibration Conduction Sensor (VCS) to detect the vibrations from a phone call by physically touching the phone. Attach the device magnetically to the back of your iPhone or Android using the included magnetic ring, and the VCS picks up the call audio from both sides — even with the phone against your ear. The smart dual-mode automatically switches to phone call mode when this is detected. This works for calls made through the native phone app as well as via headphones in many cases.
Is my data private and secure?
Yes. Recordings stored locally on the device are encrypted with AES-256. Files in cloud storage are encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 and are exclusive to your account. Plaud does not train AI models on user audio and no human audio review takes place without explicit user authorization. The platform holds ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, and EN 18031 certifications — making it appropriate for legal, medical, and financial environments that require high data governance standards.
