Description
MOTOTRBO Business Radio UHF Digital + Analog — 64 Channels IP55 + MIL-SPEC 810
The direct replacement for the CP200D — 64 channels, analog and DMR digital out of the box, SINC+ noise suppression, up to 17-hour battery, IP55, and two programmable buttons in a no-display workhorse design.
The Motorola MOTOTRBO R2-DU is the current-generation MOTOTRBO UHF commercial radio and the direct successor to the long-running CP200D. It transmits at up to 4 watts across the 400–480 MHz UHF band on up to 64 programmable channels, operating in both analog and DMR digital modes simultaneously out of the box — no upgrade kit required. Motorola's SINC+ noise suppression uses advanced algorithms to filter background noise in loud environments, configurable audio profiles let you boost low, mid, or high frequencies to suit your environment, and a high-density 2300mAh battery delivers up to 17 hours in digital mode.
No display, no keypad, two programmable buttons — simple to operate for any team member. Rated IP55 and tested to MIL-SPEC 810 across 11 environmental conditions. Available at ITFactory.ca — Canada's trusted source for Motorola two-way radio solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a direct replacement for the CP200D?
Yes. The MOTOTRBO R2 is Motorola's designated replacement for the CP200D. It uses the same standard 2-pin (M1) accessory connector, so existing CP200D remote speaker microphones, earpiece kits, and other 2-pin accessories work directly with the R2-DU without adapters. The R2-DU also communicates with existing CP200D radios on the same programmed analog channels — allowing gradual fleet replacement without disrupting communication.
What is the difference between the R2-DU (UHF) and R2-DV (VHF)?
The R2-DU operates on UHF frequencies (400–480 MHz) at 4 watts. The R2-DV operates on VHF frequencies (136–174 MHz) at 5 watts. UHF penetrates walls and dense building materials more effectively, making it the preferred choice for indoor commercial environments. VHF travels further in open outdoor terrain and is better suited for agriculture, forestry, outdoor facilities management, and environments with large open spaces. Your existing fleet's frequency band should generally determine which model you choose — both are available at ITFactory.ca.
Does it need to be programmed before use?
Yes. The R2-DU requires programming via Motorola Customer Programming Software (CPS) to configure channel frequencies, privacy codes, audio profiles, button assignments, and other settings before deployment. Programming requires a PC and a programming cable. Businesses without in-house programming capability should work with an authorized Motorola dealer to have channels configured before deployment.
What is SINC+ and how is it different from standard noise cancellation?
SINC+ (Sophisticated Intelligent Noise Cancellation Plus) uses advanced DSP algorithms to continuously analyse the audio signal and separate voice from background noise in real time. Standard noise cancellation applies a fixed directional filter. SINC+ adapts dynamically to the noise environment — machinery sounds, HVAC frequencies, crowd noise — making it more effective in environments where noise characteristics change throughout the shift. The result is clearer audio at both ends of the call, even in the most demanding industrial and outdoor environments.
|
A Note on Licensing for Commercial Use in Canada The R2-DU operates on UHF frequencies regulated by ISED (Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada). Under federal regulations, a Radio Authorization is technically required for commercial use. That said, the radio will function without a licence in place — many businesses use them informally or while their application is being processed. For larger teams and ongoing commercial deployments, obtaining a Radio Authorization is recommended to remain compliant and to protect your assigned frequencies. Applications are submitted at ised.canada.ca under Spectrum Management and Telecommunications. |
