MOTOTRBO Business Radio
UHF Analog — 16 Channels
MIL-SPEC + IP54
The direct replacement for the CP185 — a no-frills MOTOTRBO UHF business radio with 4 watts, 16 programmable channels, no display or keypad to complicate things, and 10.7-hour battery life.
The Motorola CP100D-AU is the current-generation MOTOTRBO entry-level UHF business radio, designed as the direct successor to the long-running CP185. It transmits at up to 4 watts across the 403–480 MHz UHF frequency band on up to 16 programmable channels — with no display and no keypad, making it simple enough for any team member to operate from day one. Programmed channels and privacy codes are set via Motorola Customer Programming Software (CPS) by a Motorola dealer, and from that point the radio has nothing for staff to misconfigure. IP54 rated, MIL-SPEC 810 tested, and backed by a 2-year warranty.
This is the analog-only variant (suffix -AU). It operates on UHF business-licensed frequencies and is compatible with the full range of existing CP-series 2-pin accessories. Available at ITFactory.ca — Canada's trusted source for Motorola two-way radio solutions.

Key Features
No Display, No Keypad — Maximum Simplicity The CP100D-AU has no screen and no keypad. Channels are selected by a physical rotary switch and volume by a top-mounted knob. This eliminates any possibility of staff accidentally navigating into menus, changing privacy codes, or misconfiguring the radio. What is programmed stays programmed.
4 Watts UHF — Up to 375,000 sq ft Indoor Coverage Transmits at up to 4 watts in the 403–480 MHz UHF band, providing effective penetration through walls, floors, and heavy construction materials. Rated for indoor coverage up to approximately 375,000 square feet or 20 floors — appropriate for mid-size and large facilities.
16 Programmable Channels Up to 16 channels allow your operation to segment communication by department, zone, or function — security on one channel, logistics on another, management on a third. Channels and privacy codes are configured via Motorola CPS by a Motorola dealer before deployment.
10.7-Hour Battery Life The included PMNN4476 1,750 mAh Li-Ion battery delivers up to 10.7 hours of talk time per charge at the standard 5/5/90 duty cycle — enough to carry through a full shift without mid-day charging. The high-capacity PMNN4080 (2,150 mAh) extends runtime to approximately 15 hours and is available separately at ITFactory.ca.
MIL-SPEC 810 and IP54 Durability Tested to military MIL-STD-810 standards for shock, vibration, humidity, temperature extremes, and dust. IP54 rated against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction — built for construction, logistics, hospitality, and industrial environments where radios take daily abuse.
Hi/Lo Power — 1W or 4W Selectable Switch between 1-watt and 4-watt transmit power to balance range against battery life. Use low power for in-building short-range communication to extend runtime; switch to high when teams spread across a large site or outdoors.
Voice Announcement When the channel is changed, the radio announces the channel number or name aloud — so operators always know which channel they are on without looking at a display. Particularly useful for workers in gloves or low-light environments.
2-Pin (M1) Accessory Connector Uses the standard Motorola 2-pin M1 accessory connector — compatible with the full range of Motorola CP-series accessories including the PMMN4013 remote speaker microphone, PMLN6530 surveillance earpiece kit, and BlueParrott headsets, all available at ITFactory.ca.
MOTOTRBO Platform — Upgradeable Path to Digital The CP100D-AU is the analog variant of the MOTOTRBO CP100D platform. If your operation later requires DMR digital capability — for 35% longer talk time, doubled channel capacity via TDMA, or superior audio at range — the digital-capable CP100D-U variant is available. Existing analog accessories and charging infrastructure remain compatible.
2-Year Manufacturer Warranty Backed by Motorola's standard 2-year limited warranty for the CP100D series.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the CP100D-AU and the CP100D-U?
The CP100D-AU (this radio, SKU AAH87YDC9JC2AN) is the analog-only variant — it operates on UHF analog frequencies only. The CP100D-U is the digital-capable variant — it supports both analog and DMR digital operation, offering 35% longer talk time in digital mode, doubled channel capacity via TDMA, and superior audio quality at range. Both radios are physically identical and use the same accessories. If your organization may need digital capability in the future, the CP100D-U provides a path to migrate without replacing the hardware.
Is it compatible with my existing CP185 accessories?
Yes. The CP100D-AU uses the standard Motorola 2-pin (M1) accessory connector — the same connector used on the CP185, CP200, and most Motorola commercial portables. Existing CP185 remote speaker microphones, surveillance earpieces, and other 2-pin accessories are directly compatible. The PMNN4476 battery used in this radio is also compatible with the CP185. ITFactory.ca carries a full range of compatible accessories including the PMNN4476 replacement battery, PMNN4080 high-capacity battery, PMMN4013 remote speaker microphone, and PMLN6530 surveillance earpiece kit.
Will it communicate with my existing CP185 radios?
Yes — when programmed to the same UHF frequencies and privacy codes, the CP100D-AU communicates directly with CP185 radios and any other UHF analog radio programmed to matching channels. This makes it straightforward to integrate into an existing CP185 fleet as a replacement or addition, or to replace the fleet gradually over time without disrupting communication.
Does it need to be programmed before use?
Yes. The CP100D-AU requires programming via Motorola Customer Programming Software (CPS) to configure channel frequencies, privacy codes, and other settings before it can communicate with your fleet. Programming requires a PC and a programming cable. Businesses without in-house programming capability should work with an authorized Motorola dealer to have channels configured before deployment.

A Note on Licensing for Commercial Use in Canada
The CP100D-AU operates on UHF frequencies regulated by ISED (Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada). Under federal regulations, a Radio Authorization is technically required for commercial use. That said, the radio will function without a licence in place — many businesses use them informally or while their application is being processed.
For larger teams and ongoing commercial deployments, obtaining a Radio Authorization is recommended to remain compliant and to protect your assigned frequencies. Applications are submitted at ised.canada.ca under Spectrum Management and Telecommunications. The process involves selecting your UHF frequency band, providing business details, and paying a modest annual fee.
Licensed operation grants access to dedicated UHF business frequencies with less interference and clearer audio than consumer FRS channels.
